Activity of Design Museum
We opened JIDA Design Museum1 in Shinshu-Shinmachi in April, 1997 and focused on the exhibitions. Last year's activities included the "Design Museum Exhibition" in Nagoya, "DM Festival in Toyono-Cho" Osaka and DM Selection, which was our main activity of last year. We held our exhibition at 4 different places and thus our efforts increased likewise.

The 14th Exhibition, "Design Museum Selection Vol.3 round exhibition"
March 25th to early October, 2001 Venue: JIDA Design Museum1 in Shinshu-Shinmachi
The first exhibition of the year was "DM Selection Vol.3 round exhibition" continuing from last year. The exhibition features 19 pieces donated from the JIDA Design Museum Vol.3 to the JIDA Design Museum's facility in January, 2001.

"Publish the Catalogue of Design Museum Selection Vol.3's memorial exhibition"
June, 10th to 13th, 2001 Venue: Roppongi Axis Gallery in Tokyo
The catalogue of DM Selection Vol.3 exhibition, held on January 1, 2001, was published in early of June. We held "Published the Catalogue Memorial Exhibition" in appreciation to the people who helped make this catalogue a reality. This catalogue included English as well as Japanese commentary. There was also the "Publish Memorial Reception" with JIDA East Japan Block social gathering on the first day of the exhibition.

JIDA Design Museum Exhibition /50's life – now and the future
October 3rd to 8th, 2001 Sponsored by JIDA Middle Japan Block and Middle Japan Design Group Association.
Venue: Design Gallery at Nagoya Nadia Park Design Center Building
An Exhibition focusing on Middle of Japan industrial design and how to make products in 21st century inspired from older products.
Exhibit showed 21 different companies products and the JIDA collection. The electric household appliances, for example, illustrated the transition in designing for function to designing to create a tasteful and fulfilling life in the future.
Thanks to our sponsor, we could show this exhibition again as "The 15th Exhibition" at JDM1 (from October 30th, 2001 to March 22nd, 2002).

March 26th to end of May, 2002
Venue: JIDA Design Museum1 in Shinshu-Shinmachi
We collected and exhibited common household items such as radios, TVs, scales and table ware from European designers (i.e., D. Rams, M. Belini, R. Sapper and P. Struck).

Design Museum Festival in Toyono-Cho, Osaka
March 30th, 2002 Venue: Tenba-A in Toyono-Cho, Osaka Sponsored by Kansai Block DM study group
Workshop making bowls in front of Tenba-A. There was also outdoor restaurant for lunch. Ikeda, one of the JIDA members, talked about design in India in the afternoon forum and there were 22 participants.

Exchange with Shinshu-Shinmachi
Helped open a JIDA night stall at the Summer Festival in Shinshu-Shinmachi in July. Held the 7th Design Museum Festival in Shinshu-Shinmachi on November 17th and 18th.



Lent the Collection in 2002
We supplied 15 collections to "Household matters" in Shinjuku OZON, Tokyo.
Total Participants were 5,395 in 2002 (from April, 2001 to March, 2002). The total number of visitors since opening is 26,928
