社団法人日本インダストリアルデザイナー協会は、20世紀文化の重要な核であるデザインの「過去・現在・未来?明日への伝承」を目標に、生きたデザイン資料館「JIDAデザインミュージアム1号館／信州新町」を1997年より運営してまいりました。
お蔭様で開館11周年を迎えたJIDAデザインミュージアム1号館では、常設展、企画展などを開催。また常設館以外の活動の一つとして、今回で10回目となるコレクション充実のための事業「JIDAデザインミュージアムミュージアムセレクション展」を5月7日から10日まで東京・六本木AXISギャラリーで開催いたします。
今「JIDAデザインミュージアムセレクションVol.10」では41点の商品がセレクションとして選定され、その情報は本図録にて国内外のデザイン教育機関などへ紹介されます。
そのほか、「JIDAデザインミュージアムWeb」により常設館の補完を目的に日本デザインのあゆみや所蔵コレクションの紹介など資料性の高い情報の発信に努めております。
そして「JIDAデザインミュージアムinアクシス」では収蔵コレクションやJIDAデザインミュージアムセレクション選定品等の展示をしております。また、2006年8月には財団法人日本産業デザイン振興会が20年に渡りコレクションした20数カ国のエクセレントデザイン商品、560点の移管を受け、JIDAデザインミュージアムミュージアムコレクションがさらに充実し各方面よりその活用が期待されています。さらにデザイン8団体協議会がJIDAをはじめ各協会が参画して日本を代表するデザインミュージアム設立に向けて活動を開始いたしました。2010年ジャパン・デザイン・ミュージアム『パイロット展』を開催する準備を進めております。このような活動が展開できますのもひとえに皆様方のご協力、ご支援の賜物と深く感謝申しあげます。
デザインミュージアム活動を、21世紀の豊かな環境社会を目指す社会運動とするため、JIDAはこの趣旨にご賛同いただける方々のご支援を賜る「JIDAデザインミュージアム支援会」を結成しております。皆様方のご参加とご支援を賜りますようよろしくお願い申しあげます。

Since its establishment in 1997, the Japan Industrial Designers' Association has been running a design museum, the JIDA Design Museum No.1 in Shinshuu Shinnmachi, aiming to capture the core theme of 20th century culture : "Past, Present, Future - Passing On To The Next Generation". The JIDA Design Museum, which celebrates its 11th anniversary, holds permanent and temporary exhibitions. Also, as an activity in addition to the permanent building, there will be the 10th annual "JIDA Design Museum Exhibition," which is a project to fertilize our collection from the 7th to the 10th of May at the AXIS Gallery in Roppongi, Tokyo. Currently, 41 products have been selected for the "JIDA Design Museum Selection Vol. 10" and they will be introduced to domestic and foreign educational institutes for design through this catalog. Along with this, we endeavor to send highly informative data for the purpose of complementing the permanent building with the "JIDA Design Museum Web" that will, for example, show the progress of Japanese design and provide an introduction to our collection. Furthermore, at the JIDA Design Museum in AXIS, we are exhibiting our collection and the products that are selected for the JIDA Design Museum Selection. In addition, the JIDA Design Museum collections became more substantial in August 2006 after receiving 560 works of excellently designed products from more than 20 countries that were collected for over 20 years by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization, and we have great expectations for their use in the museum.
Moreover, the Committee to Prepare for the Establishment of the Japan Design Museum has been founded by JIDA with the participation of the D-8 Association, and has begun working towards establishing the design museum. We are preparing to hold the "Pilot Exhibition" in 2010 at the Japan Design Museum. We are able to develop such activities thanks to your generous assistance and we greatly appreciate your support. The Design Museum Activity is aiming to provide social activities that enrich society in the 21st century. We have formed the "JIDA Design Museum Support Group" to help us meet this goal.
