「ぷれぱらウッド」とは医療機器の形をした木製のおもちゃとしてメーカーが独自に名づけた商品名である。この製品は小児医療の専門医や、大学の研究所と共同開発した日本初の医療用玩具である。小さな子供が病院の検査、治療に恐怖心を覚え、特にCT、MRIなどの専門機器を必要とする検査では、不安で泣かれたり抵抗されて、医師の診察や処置時間を要してしまうことがある。先ずは子供の不安を軽減するため、事前に検査内容を理解してもらうことが大切となる。その際、説明の補助として木製医療玩具を使うことで、子供は遊び感覚で説明を聞き検査の必要性を理解する事で、前向きに検査や治療に取り組むことができる。更にプラスチック製にはない木製であるところに玩具の温もり感も見出される。また、製品の主原料である木材は、違法伐採を減らして地球温暖化防止に貢献するFSC認証材を使用している点も評価したい。

| <PREPARA WOOD> is the original name of a product series of wooden toys that have the shape of different medical devices. Pediatricians and a university research center collaborated on its development, and it is the first toy for medical use in Japan. Small children are afraid of medical check-ups or treatments at a hospital, and this even more so, if special devices are used. Children might cry or struggle and prolong the time of the examination or the treatment. In order to help them to overcome their fears, it is important the procedure of the examination is understood beforehand. By using the wooden medical toy as a help for explaining, children can listen to the explanation as if it were part of a game and thus understand its necessity and become more open to it. Furthermore, the wood will give a warm feeling that plastic couldn't. Besides that, credit must also be given for the use of FSC certified wood, which reduces illegal logging and contributes to the prevention of global warming. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
