近年、体重計の進化は目を見張るものがある。2008年の厚生労働省の特定健診・保健指導のスタートで、メタボリックシンドローム(内臓脂肪症候群)撲滅の気運が高まり、体重だけではなく体脂肪率やBMI（肥満度を示す国際的基準）を測定・認識することが重要視されているためだ。一般的にこの種の計測器は体重体組成計と呼ばれ、両手両足の電極で測定する四肢タイプと両足の電極だけで測定する二肢タイプがある。＜HBF-201＞は両足の電極で測定する二肢タイプで、体脂肪率やBMIはもちろん、内臓脂肪レベルや基礎代謝、骨格筋率など10項目を測定できる。身体の表面に現れる変化は鏡で容易に確認できるが、いざ体内となると自分の身体であるにもかかわらずさっぱりわからない。＜HBF-201＞はこの体内の変化をいつでも映し出し見られる「体内の鏡」として開発されたのであろう。たっぷりと膨らみを与えられ愛らしい造形は従来の測定器というイメージは薄れ、住まいのどこに置いても違和感なくマッチし身近な存在となるよう機能している。またLCD表示も、同社他製品に共通する大型化が図られ、「体内の鏡」を間違うことなく容易に見られるよう配慮されている。同社は家庭内の健康管理に欠かせない体温計や血圧計などの製品をデザイン主導で生活に身近なものとして提案しているが、この＜HBF-201＞も同様のコンセプト上にあるものであり好感を覚える。

| In recent years, the further development of scales has received great attention. With the initiation of specific health examination and health guidance programs by The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in 2008, the motivation to eradicate the metabolic syndrome (visceral fat syndrome) is rising, and it has become important to measure and to pay attention to not only weight but also to the body fat percentage and the BMI (an international standardized index by which obesity can be assessed). Such a measuring instrument is called a "body composition monitor," and there are basically two types: the first measures through electrodes on both hands and feet, and the second type through the feet only. The <HBF-201> belongs to the second type and can measure ten parameters, such as the visceral fat level, the basal metabolic rate and the skeletal muscle percentage, not to mention the body fat percentage and the BMI. The changes that appear on the surface of the body can easily be seen in a mirror, but when it comes to within the body, you don't know what is happening. The <HBF-201> was probably developed to be a "mirror" that reflects the inside of the body and to monitor the changes within. The pretty shape with a its nice swell erases the image of former measuring instruments and achieves to match the living space without a sense of incompatibility, no matter where placed. Furthermore, the LCD monitor is enlarged like in other products of Omron, which shows their consideration for making the "mirror within the body" easily and clearly perceptible. The company proposes products that one would not want to miss in domestic health examination, such as clinical thermometers and sphygmomanometers; they appear as something familiar to one's life and put an emphasis on design. The <HBF-201> follows this concept and thus gives you a good feeling. |
