ステンレスの一枚板から、レーザーによるカットとプレス加工だけでつくられた書類トレーだ。書類などをホールドする構造をこのシンプルな造形で実現している。デザインイノベーションを語るとき構造や作りへの新たな提案が重要な要素として取り上げられるべきだが、本品はこの種のデザイン的イノベーションを感じさせる。シンプルな造形や美しい光沢感は、それぞれどこかで見たような想いを抱くが、しかしこの二つの要素が自然に融合し、静粛さとある種妖艶さまでをも醸し出す存在感はやはり初めて出会うものだと気付く。造形と製造法の組み合わせの妙がイノベーションを感じさせるのであろう。デザイナー秋田氏の言葉を借りると、「要素をもっと少なくできないか」が最大限に具現化されたデザインであり、ある終着点にたどり着いたことを感じさせる製品だ

| This document tray is made of one sheet of stainless steel just by laser-aided cutting and pressing. With its simple molding, the product actualizes this kind of storage device. When talking about innovation in design, we should talk about such points, about new propositions with regard to shape and structure. These are very important issues. The design of this item, for example, lets me feel innovation. At first glance, I feel as if I had already seen the simple molding and the beautiful glossy appearance before. But here, these two elements fuse naturally. It feels like encountering a product with a special kind of presence that combines calmness and luxuriance. This is why encountering this product is not completely new, however, the special and unfamiliar combination of shape and manufacturing lead to this feeling of experiencing innovation. A designer, renowned Mr. Akita, said: "Aren't less elements more?" In my opinion, this design embodies this principle best. I think that this principle reaches its peak here. |
