| After the invention of Thomas Edison's phonograph (cylinder phonograph,1877), recording media have evolved into many forms, such as disc recorders, magnetic tapes, magnetic discs, optical discs and flash drives, and music has become accessible anywhere anytime. Especially Sony's Walkman (1979) heralded the future of 'portable music' and it even changed people's lifestyle. In view of this development, it is surprising that the consumption of music at home seems not to have been considered from this perspective. It is common to have your favorite audio device in your room or in the living room and to also have further and different audio devices in yet other rooms. It is likely that a nice audio system was placed in ones private room or a living room, and that the audio systems in other rooms were not cared for as much. < music tap > has done away with this in a simple way: Using the available household electric circuit for power line signal transmission, the music from the Sound Station can be enjoyed in any room with power sockets in the same quality. It enables a new flexible access to music. Its design is not obtrusive, but focuses rather on the interior design with its light color and soft shapes. The concept and the design of the product, which mirror modern natural life, propose a new category for the design, i.e. an appearance more like a "music box" rater than that of a an audio-appliance. |
