| The goal of the development of the < SEIKO iZUL > was to develop a wristwatch that features SEIKO's spring drive technology. The designers analyzed the usual design parameters such as hands, dials, legibility and operation buttons in detail with regard to time measurement. As a result, a rotating top was developed for the < iZUL >. By rotating the top 180 horizontally, you switch only in seconds from the normal "watch mode," to the "stop watch mode." However, this switching is an important procedure-it is like changing the mind and preparing for measuring. It also conveys the designers'message that you can feel this very drive when rotating the top case. The rotary axis is tilted and so the dial in the "stop watch mode" is tilted by an angle of 10. One of the goals was to improve legibility, an aim that made the development of this chronograph quite difficult. Similar challenges posed the polished surface finish, which is another significant feature of the watch, and also the tilted surface. The joint work of the designers, the engineers and craftsmen on the body has resulted in a product with a time-measuring feature that has never been seen before. |
