機密保持、危機管理等の高まりでIDカードが導入され久しいが、カードホルダーは会社側から支給されるものとして仕方なく身につけていることが多いのではないだろうか。機能的にはリールで延びたりカードの取り出しが簡単などと充実してはいるが、「ファッション」と捉え展開している商品は少ないように思う。IDeoは機能性とファッション性を備え、デザインテイストの違う2種をラインナップしている。シックという言葉がよく似合うホルダーが「HUBSTYLE」と呼ばれるシリーズで、革製のものではあまり見かけない伸縮リール機構を組み合わせ、幅広いファッションに馴染みやすい存在感を醸し出している。一方、豊富なカラーバリエーションを採用し、プラスチック特有の光沢と丸味を帯びた形状のホルダーが「SMOOTHSTYLE」シリーズだ。こちらはカジュアルでとても愛らしい。このような製品は性格上、いつ、何処で、誰が使用するか分からず、ある意味強い個性の必要のないアイテムだろう。両デザインともこの要件をわきまえたうえで、それぞれのデザインアイデンティティーを明確に創りあげている。メーカーやデザイナーの見識を称えたい。

| ID cards were introduced for protecting confidential information and risk management, but card holders are still something supplied by companies and put on unwillingly. With respect to functionality, there design is satisfying: there are stretchable reels and the way they are designed makes taking out the card easy. But there are not many products that can be classified as "fashionable." < IDeo > has both function and fashion and comes in two variations for different design tastes. One that matches the word chic is called "HUB STYLE"-series. It has an extension reel structure, which is rare for leather card holders, and it would match a wide range of fashion trends. The other, which has a plastic lustre and a round shape, is called "SMOOTH STYLE"-series and comes in many colourful variations. This series is very casual and cute. It is not easy to find out where, when or by whom card holders are used and, therefore, card holders are items where a strong individuality is not needed. Both designs keep this essential factor in mind and accurately build up their own design identities.
