C & F DESIGN創設者の米ノ井公夫氏は民生品のデザインを数多く手がけているが、その中の、あるオーディオメーカーとのデザインワークがこの商品の魅力を 支えていることに間違いないだろう。＜Reference＞に見るツールとしての構造や精度感は、氏がオーディオで培ったものと思う。切削加工されたステンレスに細かくサンドブラストされた仕上げや精度感あるローレット、適度な重さを持った可動部など、単に精密機械加工による工作だけでは表現しきれないオーディオアクセサリーのテイストを感じさせる。また、各所にフライフィッシャーマンとしてのこだわりが発揮され、フック（針）を掴むジョー（万力）先端にマグネットを仕組み極小フックのセットを容易にしたことや、セットしたフックの角度を変えずにジョーの位置を上下動できるリンクアームシステム、その他左右の利き手に対応した構造など氏の経験が随所に活かされている。このようにすべてのアイディアはユーザーフレンドリー思想を深めたもので、ビギナーからエキスパートまで幅広い支持を得ているようだ。ホビーをサポートする道具ではあるが、＜Reference＞自体が所有欲の対象となりうる魅力を持ち合わせている。

I am sure that this work contributes to the charm of this product, since the structure and the impression of precision of the < CFT-9000 > show the features that are to be found in the products designed by Kimio Yonenoi in the audio sector. The < Reference Vise > is made of stainless steel, the surface of which was sandblasted. The knurl expresses precision, and the moving element is quite light. These points show the influence of the audio accessories designed by Mr. Yonenoi, which are characterized by distinguished construction and machining. In addition, the various parts of the < Reference Vise > also show the knowledge of the fly fisher. So, for instance, the point with which the "hook", i.e. the needle, is grasped by the jaws of the vise has a magnet, making it easy to manipulate the fly.
