＜マルコポーロフライタイイングシステム（以下マルコポーロ）＞はフライ（毛鉤）を製作するための道具をすべて備えた世界最小（メーカー調べ）の携帯ツールセットだ。C & F DESIGNはデザイナー米ノ井公夫氏が創設したメーカーで、フライフィッシングというテーマの中で氏が面白いと思ったもの、欲しいと思うものを精力的に商品開発を行っている。世に初めて送り出した商品は『フライケース』だが、この商品は市場に好感を持って迎えられた。暗闇や視力が低下したユーザーでも簡単にフライの交換ができるスレッダー（フライ用糸通し）と、フライのプロポーションを崩さずに整然と収納できるマイクロスリットフォームがセットされた携帯整理収納箱だ。保守的なフライフィッシングマーケットの中で『有るようで無かった』道具を、まさに市場性を怖がらずに開発・商品化した。同様にこの＜マルコポーロ＞もトラベル用として創り出されたタイイングツールだ。既に30ヶ国以上に輸出され、世界中のフライフィッシャー達と旅を共にしている。携帯性が良いうえ、金属の質感を高めたそれぞれのツールは機能美を感じ、ただ眺めているだけでも飽きさせない。人は整然と整理されたコンパクトな空間に美を見いだすものだが、＜マルコポーロ＞も単にツールの集合というだけではなく、大切なコレクションを愛でることにも似た感覚を抱かせる商品だ。

| The < Marco Polo Fly Tying System > (subsequently referred to as < Marco Polo >) combines everything you need to make a fly (i.e. a lure consisting of a thread and, for example, a feather), and it is the world's smallest portable tool kit for such purposes.
The kit is produced by C&F Design, a company that was established by the designer Kimio Yonenoi. The aim is to further the development of commodities the designer is interested in, and so the company's production centers on fly fishing. The first commodity sold was the < Fly Case >, which was well received in the market. The < Marco Polo > contains a threader with which the user can change the fly easily when it is dark or in case of poor eyesight. The < Fly Case > case contains custom-cut micro-slit foam, which prevents deformation of the flies and enables their systematic arrangement. The manufacturer developed and produced this product for the conservative fly fishing market, where similar looking products already existed, but was never afraid of marketability. Along these lines the < Marco Polo > was produced as a portable kit for tying tools. It has been exported into 30 countries, and it travels with fly fishers worldwide. Its portability is good. Every tool shows a good feeling for the materials used and is distinguished by functional beauty. So you will never loose interest when looking at it. People discover the beauty of such a systematically re-arranged compact space. The < Marco Polo > is not only about the efficient storage of tools, but looking at it also gives the feeling of appreciating an important collection. |
