コンパクトメモリーオーディオは種々市場に投入されているが、この＜D-snapAudio SV-SD370V/310V＞までデザインが洗練された商品は見られない。キュービックな立体の組合せをテーマとした中で、細部のR処理やフリクションを利用したスイッチ操作感覚など、ユーザーを楽しませることにデザイナーのアイデアと工夫が盛り込まれている。またFMチューナー付SDオーディオプレーヤーとして世界最小のサイズで、手のひらの上で操作していて心地いい。重さもわずか37.8gである。有機ELディスプレーの表示部は、ガラスブロックのイメージで、操作部と明確に分けているのも視認性への配慮が感じられ、JIS第2水準までの漢字に対応できることも、曲のタイトル検索やアーティスト名表現の点で優れている。もし表示部が「スー、カチッ」と操作部の中に収納できれば、なおさらこのデザイン意図が明確になりそうだし、デザイナーの思いもひょっとしてその辺にあったのではないかと想像してしまうくらい愛らしいデザインである。均整のとれたプロポーションや使い勝手を配慮したこのD-snapAudioは、同社がユニバーサルデザインの旗手たらんと訴えかけている姿勢を具現化した、使いやすく美しいプロダクトだ。
