携帯機器向け地上デジタル放送「ワンセグ」の開始に先駆けて、そのチューナーを搭載してリリースされた携帯電話機である。新しい機能やサービスが次々付加されてめまぐるしく変化している市場であるが、それ故に購入してから新機能に気づくこともあるほどである。このW41Hは、「ワンセグ」が新たに開始されることを、あたかもテレビと思わせるスタイルで市場に知らしめたのではないかと思う。その「テレビらしさ」は、一般のテレビ同様に横向きで使用することを重視したレイアウトや、ロッドアンテナ、またテレビ台らしさを意識した充電台など、追求された拘りにより実現されている。

| This portable telephone was released before the digital terrestrial TV-broadcast "One-Seg" was introduced, and it loads One-Seg's tuner. New functions and services are added one after another while the market is changing very quickly, and so we find every new function in this product. The < W41H > heralded One-Seg's market launch: At first glance, the design reminds us of a TV. It features typical characteristics we associate with a television set, such as its overall horizontal design, the rod antenna or the TV-style stand the charger functions as. |
