ゴミやホコリは汚い物、だから掃除をする。そんな単純な思考を隠すことなくごく自然に見せてくれるダイソン社の掃除機は、1号機から現在に至るまで、そのポリシーを継承し続けている。そして、最新型のこの＜DC08＞はサイクロンの持つ性能を以前よりも高めたラディックス12サイクロンとして登場した。サイクロンの技術的証明は追随する各社の製品群を見れば火を見るよりも明らかであるが、技術的な裏付けに形を与えるとき、彼らの造形手法はそれを隠す方法で一様に掃除のプロセスを隠そうと努力している。近年ブラックボックス化した工業製品と言われている多くは、形からそれの持つ技術能力を想像しがたいモノで、それは所謂パッケージの中に納めることにネガティブに努力し続けてきた事にほかならない。その点、＜DC08＞は12本のサイクロンの持つ高性能さを、例えるならマルチシリンダーのオートバイエンジンのカムシャフトカバーの如く、目で分かる技術の凝縮形として造形的にまとめあげている。きれいに使って、いつも人に見てもらいたい高性能掃除機として側において置きたい一つである。

| Trash and dust are types of dirt and thatﾕs why people clean them up. This is a simple process that this new cleaner by Dyson does not avoid, but takes care of naturally. The company has been using this policy steadily since the production of its first machine. The latest type, ﾒDC08ﾓ, utilizes the Radix12 Cyclone, and its efficiency is higher than ever before. The technical superiority of the cyclone becomes obvious when compared to similar products by other companies that followed it. The molds of these machines have, of course, to support technical aspects, but they also make an effort to hide the actual cleaning process. People say of many products that they come as black boxes, where it is difficult to image the technical efficiency of it, as one cannot see inside. I think it is bad to continue this pattern of hiding things from the public, as people are interested in the internal workings of the machine. Specifically for this reason, the ﾒDC08ﾓ shows its technical part, the high efficiency 12 Cyclones, by embedding it in a transparent mold. It looks a bit like the camshaft cover of a multi-cylinder motorcycle engine. I want to keep this high efficiency cleaner near me, and it should be used to clean and be shown off to other people. |
