日本での、いわゆるベビーカー（生後7ヶ月以上対象）初代はマンテン社の「ベビーバギー（1970年代）」にそのルーツを見ることができる。それは「バギー」の名が示す通り圧倒的な軽快感でヤングママを中心に幅広い人達に浸透していった。
＜コンビ軽いのください＞は1993年に発売された。この商品はヤングママのライフスタイルを追求することからスタートし、その行動や要求を基に、機能と安全性、使い易さを盛り込んだ重さ2.8kgという肩にかけられる超軽量の折り畳み式ベビーカーとして仕立てられた。コンビは、これら一連のベビーカーのデザインでたちまち業界のトップとなり、そのスタイルや機能はヤングファミリーの生活の中にすっかり定着している。 折り畳みのメカニズムデザイン、ガード部分の「優しさと安全性」を感じさせる柔らかいカーブのスタイリング、シート部分のテキスタイルデザインやグラフィックデザイン、ベビーの居住性追求、素材の軽量化など、各要素を十分に検討した様子が伺える。 この商品はベビーカー第二世代のスタンダードとして先駆的な役割りを果たした。それを裏付けるように、今日でもその思想と需要はOEM商品として継続されている。 |
