アームライトといえばコイルスプリングを巧みに使った機能的なアームを持ち、半世紀以上の歳月を経た現在もなお広く愛用されている「Luxo」がその代名詞であった。
そして、建築現場のタワ−クレーンさながら、ステンレスワイヤーのテンションにより支持、可動するアーム、一切の無駄、虚飾を排し工場用作業灯のように機能的かつシンプルに構成された＜Tolomeo＞が発表されて15年余り。 その殆どすべてを構成するアルミパーツの素材特性、成形性、柔らかで繊細な表情、感触を活かした巧みなデザインによって＜Tolomeo＞は、基本機能はそのままに「Luxo」とは異なる魅力的な存在となり、そして昨今のアルミブームに流されることのない確かな定番となっっている。 |

| The arm light has functional arms using a clever coil spring. The "Luxo" is a masterpiece that has been widely used for more than half a century. Under this circumstance, the "Tolomeo" was announced more than 15 years ago. It is support by the tension of stainless wires, like a tower cranes you see on construction sites, it has moveable arms, no unnecessary parts and avoids decoration, like a light for factory work. The construction is functional and simple. The design of "Tolomeo" makes practical use of the materials character. It is constructed mostly from aluminum parts with a soft and detailed expression and feeling. "Tolomeo" is still keeping its basic function. It becomes a fascinating existence different from "Luxo".
