「洗剤の要らない洗濯機」発売の記事を新聞で読んだとき、常識を覆す画期的な商品が出たという印象だったが、後にこの商品の誕生には三洋電機の技術的伏線があったという事がわかった。「水を電気分解し浄化する技術」と「洗濯槽を斜に傾け水流の複雑化による洗浄力UP」とが「洗剤を使わなくても洗濯できる洗濯機を作ろう」という発想に答えを導いたのだ。斜に傾いた洗濯槽は洗濯物を取り出しやすく、見やすくした。いわゆるユニバーサルデザインである。簡単な事のように思えるが、簡単な事ではなかったであろうことは容易に想像がつく。ましてや洗剤を使わないで汚れを取り除こうという発想は、そのことを目標にして開発のスタート地点に立つ事さえ困難な事ではなかったのだろうか。
『おばあさんは川へ洗濯に〜』行ったときには合成洗剤は使わなかったはずだ。 「水質汚染」は我々の時代が生んだ問題なのだ。 開発の苦労話など聞くにつけ、立場でものを考えていてはこのような発想はできないと思う。つまりこの商品の出現は、消費者であり、生産者であり、デザイナーである一人一人が「環境破壊に対する解決の糸口」を探し出す一つの方向性を示唆しているのではないかということだ。 |

| This is a "soap-free washing machine". When I read an article about it, I had the impression that this is an epoch-making product to undermine common sense. But after I found out about the birth of this product, there were technical hints from Sanyo Electrics. "The technique for cleaning by electrolyzed water" and "the washing tank must be tilted to make the water flow more complex to increase the cleansing power". This guided to the answer of "let's make a soap-free washing machine". The tilted washing tank makes it easy to pick up and see the clothes to being washed. This is the so-called universal design. This looks like an easy idea, but actually, we can imagine it is not so easy. The idea not to use detergents to remove dirt from clothes is difficult to be set on a starting point in the development process. Maybe it is a very difficult thing? "A grand mother is going to the river for washing..." I think during that time, she didn't use synthetic detergents. "Water pollution" is a problem of our age. When I heard the story about the trouble of development, I thought that an idea like this cannot come up when each person is thinking from its own position. In short, the reason for the appearance of this product is, that each person, consumer, producer and designer, is searching for the "beginning of a solution of the environmental destruction". And may be it is a suggestion for one direction of it. |
